The occurrence of herbicide-resistant Avena fatua (wild oats) populations to ACCase-inhibiting herbicides in Ireland

چکیده
Following growers’ reports of herbicide control problems, populations 30 wild oats, Avena fatua, were collected from the south-east main arable counties Ireland in 2016 and investigated for occurrence potential resistance to acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase) inhibitors pinoxaden, propaquizafop cycloxydim, as well acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitor mesosulfuron + iodosulfuron. Plant survival ?20% was considered discriminating threshold between resistant susceptible populations, when plants treated with full recommended field rates ACCase/ALS inhibitors. Glasshouse sensitivity screens revealed 2 out cross-resistant all three ACCase While both pinoxaden propaquizafop, additionally, two only. Different degree cross-resistance suggest involvement either different point mutations or more than one mechanism. Nevertheless, including seven ACCase-resistant equally ALS inhibitor. An integrated weed management (cultural/non-chemical tactics judicious use herbicides) approach is strongly minimize risk evolution.

Characterisation of Avena fatua populations with resistance to multiple herbicides
Avena fatua (wild oat) populations with resistance (R) to one or more herbicides have been described in numerous cropping systems worldwide. We previously reported that the R3 and R4 wild oat populations from Montana, USA, were resistant to four herbicides representing three different modes of action: tralkoxydim [acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase] inhibitor), imazamethabenz and flucarbazone [acet...
متن کاملMutations in the plastidic ACCase gene endowing resistance to ACCase-inhibiting herbicide in Phalaris minor populations from India
Littleseed canarygrass (Phalaris minor Retz.) is one of the most common and troublesome weeds infesting wheat crop in India. Repeated use during the last two decades of the ACCase-inhibiting herbicide (clodinafop) to control this weed has resulted in the occurrence of resistance. Fifty-three P. minor populations were collected from wheat fields in Haryana and Punjab states of India. The dose-re...
متن کاملImpact of Biotic and Abiotic Stresses on the Competitive Ability of Multiple Herbicide Resistant Wild Oat (Avena fatua)
Ecological theory predicts that fitness costs of herbicide resistance should lead to the reduced relative abundance of resistant populations upon the cessation of herbicide use. This greenhouse research investigated the potential fitness costs of two multiple herbicide resistant (MHR) wild oat (Avena fatua) populations, an economically important weed that affects cereal and pulse crop productio...
متن کاملSalt and water stress of ACCase herbicides resistant and susceptible populations of rigid ryegrass (Lolium rigidum)
Laboratory studies were conducted to compare the relative fitness of clodinafop-propargyl herbicide resistant Lolium rigidum accessions with their clodinafop-propargyl susceptible counterparts in 2014. Factors evaluated were Lolium populations at constant salinity stress (0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 dS cm2) and water stress (0, -3, -6, -9, -12 and -15 bar). The maximum germination in salinity stres...
